Public Power

Public Power Week, October 5-11, 2025

Annually the first full week of October, the WMLP celebrates Public Power Week, along with approximately 2,000 other community-powered, not-for-profit electric utilities that collectively provide electricity to 55 million Americans across 49 states and five U.S. territories. Like public schools and libraries, WMLP is owned by the community and run as a part of local government. WMLP is governed by the Municipal Light Board.
